A review of Golden Guilt will be posted here before the year is out. I was disappointed that it wasn't as loopy as the book reviewed here, but had some of Gerard's offbeat humor to satisfy.J F Norrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06473487417479127354noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8787364257168822822.post-72493404723985511922019-10-22T03:16:44.876-05:002019-10-22T03:16:44.876-05:00I'm reading Golden Guilt. They’d rescue the rare and collectible from being pulped, sell them and use the funds to help run the place. They closed it down a couple of years ago. I found quite a few amazing books there— some still with old dust jackets. Alas, it turned out to be one of his historical fiction books, THE FLAIL AND THE FISH, rather than a GAD crime novel so I still have not read a Sir John Merideth story. I'll still read it, but I'd much prefer a crime novel.Ron Smythhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00575735524072816238noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8787364257168822822.post-50847416246045858212019-08-25T10:13:07.365-05:002019-08-25T10:13:07.365-05:00The Irish-Viking connection is well-known. "Vikings" from Norway and later Denmark, raided and then settled in Ireland from roughly 800-1014 AD and Dublin, Cork, Waterford and Limerick are all now recognised as Viking settlements. Medieval (Church) historians played down the Viking heritage but archaeology has confirmed it beyond doubt.Mike Ripleyhttp://www.shotsmag.co.uknoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8787364257168822822.post-9412742146613398072019-08-24T14:04:21.918-05:002019-08-24T14:04:21.918-05:00I do love a good mystery farce.
