Hell, the more "classic" detection I read, the more appreciative I am when something odd -- like a ghost solving its own murder, or a man being inexplicably transported back in time to solve an Edwardian murder -- is used to good effect. The real world be damned, give me a detective plot!JJ @ The Invisible Eventhttps://theinvisibleevent.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8787364257168822822.post-26061452970559198262019-10-05T08:36:56.999-05:002019-10-05T08:36:56.999-05:00Well... you may not like this one either for it sh...Well... you may not like this one either for it shares something of the “solution” to the ghost with Post Mortem. But I have to say this is a true detective novel while Cullingford’s wry and satiric book was rather a weak effort at one. Clearly it's something that has seeped into my unconscious brain from reading all these blogs by people more widely-read than I. Or I'm misremembering.

Either way, many thanks...and welcome back! We were busy with gardening, home projects and I spent much of September planning for our trip to Vermont and neighboring New England states. We stayed in a yurt on a farm for five days, off the grid with no WiFi or internet (until we drove into town), no electricity other than two lamps that ran on a car battery(!) and a composting toilet. Really roughed it! But I loved every minute. We visited most of Vermont, three towns in New Hampshire, and Cambridge, MA. Did lots of hiking and had some truly excellent meals. And now I have only three more states to go before I can say I've set foot in all 50 of them!J F Norrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06473487417479127354noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8787364257168822822.post-18225221058134528962019-10-04T15:50:04.350-05:002019-10-04T15:50:04.350-05:00Interesting, but not enough so for me to seek it o...Interesting, but not enough so for me to seek it out.
