The edition of Triple Bite that Flynn's relative gave Steve to read and then use to prepare the new edition must not have had a DJ. Why they choose the alternate illustration is clear if you read the book. The drawing looks just like what happens in the final scene. Celicia hides in the room and form the shadows she witnesses the criminal finding the treasure. But if you want a real answer to your question you should ask Steve himself at his blog "In Search of the Classic Mystery."J F Norrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06473487417479127354noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8787364257168822822.post-48252294475979967832019-11-24T14:16:07.091-06:002019-11-24T14:16:07.091-06:00One odd thing about this edition is that, instead ...One odd thing about this edition is that, instead of new artwork as with the other nine being reissued, they've used the cover of a different book, "The Ring of Innocent" (or part of it). Was this just a way of reducing costs, or is there another reason?Jonathan Ohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12653613829349599589noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8787364257168822822.post-67102019256569780462019-11-23T17:54:30.095-06:002019-11-23T17:54:30.095-06:00Invisible Death is definitely on my Flynn reading ...Invisible Death is definitely on my Flynn reading list. Despite ...Thank you for this enticing review, John! Despite being talky, The Triple Bite sounds like quite an enjoyable and intriguing mystery.

I suggest you make Invisible Death one of your next stops in the series. Just like this one, it could have come from an American pulp magazine, but, going by what you said here, with better pacing. Didn’t you write ...I thought you knew about Hewitt. Didn’t you write a post on The Rivals of Sherlock Holmes anthology or the TV series? Sometimes I get everyone and their blogs all mixed up in my memory bank. Oh well. Makes sense if you never heard of him or Morrison. No jibe intended there at all.

This reminded me of the kinds of detective stories that popped up in American pulp magazines. A for more Flynn— I have yet to tackle ...Peacock’s Eye or ...Creeping Jenny though I have copies of both. May have to wait until the New Year before I get to read Flynn again. First of all, I received my copy of The Triple Bite very late in the day due to our genuine struggle to find a copy of it, so I had to read it and write the introduction pretty quickly. And second of all, not having come across Morrison before, I missed this as a genuine reference. Apologies, and I will forward the typo to DSP so future editions can be corrected,

Glad you enjoyed it - have you tried The Mystery Of The Peacock’s Eye yet? Or The Creeping Jenny Mystery? Or Invisible Death? All quite different, but I think the best of the ten, along with Murder En RoutePuzzle Doctorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03587310207350085909noreply@blogger.com
