But I bought two other hard to find Ford books and left that one behind. Had I but known... HA! But I'm caught up - lately - in reading vintage (much more than usual) so I think I'll look for this one.Yvettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08919246184376538331noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8787364257168822822.post-13828823231069115172016-04-15T09:51:20.314-05:002016-04-15T09:51:20.314-05:00This one was a good one to start with and has enco...This one was a good one to start with and has encouraged me to read more of the mysteries she wrote as "Leslie Ford". Apparently her books from the 1940s and 19560s are the best. I have about five or six books, three of which I found and put in the TBR Pile for later this year. I'm pretty fed up with all the slander written about Brown -- her "un-PC" reputation and the charge of "unconscious racism" in her books. Based on this book it's just balderdash. She's no more racist than any other American mystery writer of her era. I think most readers cannot distinguish between a character voicing its opinion and the writer's personal beliefs. I have yet to investigate the Mr. Pinkerton books she wrote as David Frome (throughout the 1930s) and I have three or four of those, too. Not much written about those either.J F Norrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06473487417479127354noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8787364257168822822.post-17423511886718335892016-04-15T02:26:33.751-05:002016-04-15T02:26:33.751-05:00Brand new author for me (again - one detects a hum...Brand new author for me (again - one detects a humbling pattern ...).
