My Waldo Lydecker side came out in this review. Ha! Yeah, they can be bad. But when they're good, they're a lot of fun. Not great writing for sure. But of course, they're not meant to be. Still, the samples you quoted are wretched. :)Yvettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08919246184376538331noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8787364257168822822.post-87394412887399208632016-04-01T07:46:17.026-05:002016-04-01T07:46:17.026-05:00How clever of you to find an April Fools book! The plot as you say is OK. Just OK. Their attempt to misdirect misfires. And the hint of menace at the start never really develops as the book progresses. I liked the opening and a portion of the middle. But you have to wade through so much chit chat and fake wit that reading the book became a real chore.

David Vineyard's list, if interested, is at Mystery*File. Lots of very good titles on it with about two of three writers I'd never heard of until I read his list. The basic plots are always OK, but they really do tend to put me to sleep!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
